Elcielo Miami and Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos Valencia, affectionately known as ‘Juanma,’ are delighted to announce the opening of its highly anticipated second restaurant location at the illustrious SLS South Beach, set to debut late this summer. The expansion marks a significant milestone for the restaurant’s international footprint, as well as SLS South Beach’s acclaimed portfolio of culinary destinations and chef-table experiences.

With its original location in downtown Miami and a well-established reputation for culinary excellence, Elcielo Miami has garnered recognition for its innovative and Colombian-inspired cuisine that pays homage to Chef Juanma’s native roots. Receiving the first-ever Michelin Star in Florida in 2022, the restaurant has continued to maintain its notoriety by retaining its star in 2023. The new Elcielo Miami restaurant at SLS South Beach will carry forward this trajectory of excellence, delighting guests with a captivating fusion of flavors, artistic presentations, and a culinary narrative that magically transports you to the beautiful beaches of Cartagena and the mysterious corners of the Amazon jungle.

“We are thrilled to bring our second Elcielo Miami location to the beautiful SLS South Beach—an iconic destination recognized for its exceptional dining offerings and dynamic atmosphere. Known for its opulent style and world-class guest experience, this property provides the perfect backdrop for Elcielo Miami’s expansion. Elcielo at SLS South Beach is going to be something unique, unlike Elcielo Medellin, Bogotá, Washington DC, and Brickell in Miami; this is going to be our first foray into Elcielo a la carte. We are going to have the best Elcielo dishes available in this new magical location. Classic dishes like the corn arepa and caviar, “árbol de la vida,” ribs in guava and tamarind, yucca gnocchi with truffle and sweet plantain´s honey will be featured but with an innovative twist and will only be available at the new location, not to mention, in a pairing with the best of our cocktail bar options,” said Chef Juanma.

The new Elcielo Miami restaurant will feature an exquisite menu showcasing Chef Barrientos’ visionary creations, as well as a variety of sensory experiences with one-of-a-kind flavors and textures. Among its signature dishes, guests can savor warm Truffle Buñuelos goldened with torched Foie Gras from the Hudson Valley, crispy Crab Empanadas infused with caribbean spice, craveable Guava BBQ Pork Ribs accompanied by smoked vegetable rice and pickled radishes, Lulo ceviche bathed in passion fruit milk, Roasted Quail stuffed in a mixture of guanciale and mushrooms, and the beautifully crafted Tree of Life made with cassava, cheese and basil–all creating a delectable culinary masterpiece that represents the essence of Elcielo’s innovative approach. To end this Colombian feast, guests can delight in the country’s favorite pastry, Meregon, created with a special twist featuring star ingredient–Aguardiente.

“Culinary excellence and discovery are at the heart of the SLS South Beach experience, and we are delighted to welcome Elcielo as our esteemed partner in delivering an extraordinary dining experience to our guests. We are excited to embark on this culinary journey together and create unforgettable moments for our discerning guests,” said Simon Sorpresi, SLS South Beach, Area Vice President.

The opening of Elcielo at SLS South Beach will undoubtedly elevate Miami’s culinary scene, providing a destination where guests can indulge in the finest Latin American-inspired cuisine, as well as immerse themselves in an enchanting atmosphere that stimulates all the senses.
