Art Deco Weekend is a free community cultural festival celebrating Miami’s architecture, history, arts, and culture. Organized by the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL), the festival will celebrate its 46th year in 2023 with the theme: Art Deco Worldwide, in honor of the upcoming 16th World Congress on Art Deco, taking place April 18-30 in South Florida.

MDPL started Art Deco Weekend in 1977 to bring attention to the beautiful Art Deco architecture along Ocean Drive and throughout Miami Beach. This signature event is MDPL’s largest educational outreach program of the year and a major part of the organization’s initiative to preserve, protect, and promote historic preservation in the Art Deco District and greater Miami.

Stay tuned to artdecoweekend.org for a full list of events! Highlights include performances by Chris Calloway Brooks and the Cab Calloway Orchestra. Chris will be returning to the site of his grandfather Cab Calloway’s performances at Art Deco Weekend!

You also won’t want to miss our other cultural events, like “The Father of Chinese Art Deco Architecture”, a lecture on the works of architect Liu Jipiao, hosted at the Wolfsonian-FIU, as well as our latest exhibition, Radio Waves: Miami Beach and the Golden Age of Radio, happening at the Art Deco Museum, here on Ocean Drive.

Over 100,000 locals and tourists enjoy a variety of free events and activities including the artisan market, guided architectural tours, classic car show, lectures, films, sketch walks, kids club, dog walk, and a variety of entertaining musical events by local and national performers. All with the mission to educate the public about the Art Deco Historic District, the history, and culture of Miami Beach and historic preservation.
