International 3D street artist Leon Keer, together with Goldman Global Arts (GGA) Co-Founders Jessica Goldman Srebnick and Peter Tunney, invites the public to his first solo exhibition in the U.S., SEEING THINGS, beginning Thursday, March 23 at the Annex Gallery inside the Wynwood Walls. Leon Keer will create a new wall mural inside the Wynwood Walls in addition to a floor installation.
Through SEEING THINGS, the Dutch artist reflects on various contradictions in the world without judgment, showcasing metaphors in which major and minor wrongdoing is brought to light. The 27 art pieces will come to life through the various perspective techniques Keer uses, and from wear and tear of different types of materials, often depicting larger-than-life objects in packaging. Keer achieves these lofty goals with every “canvas” he creates and each piece is a poignant commentary on the vital environmental and social issues of our era.
“Leon Keer knows the time in which we live and expresses these sentiments through his artwork in SEEING THINGS,” said Peter Tunney, co-founder of Goldman Global Arts. “He is a dedicated practitioner, a true master, who has worked tirelessly for decades to produce unparalleled works of art. Welcome to the wonderful world of Leon Keer!”
In addition to the debut of SEEING THINGS, Keer can be found at the Wynwood Walls beginning March 17 working on a new anamorphic floor installation plus a new mural within the Wynwood Walls doors section. The floor painting will feature a 3D “reset button” which is expected to be almost 1000 square feet and will take 6 days to complete. Keer will also launch limited-edition merchandise available for purchase at the The Wynwood Walls Shop. As one of the world’s most-famous outdoor museums, GGA and Wynwood Walls have presented the solo shows of renowned artists and created a platform for up-and-coming contemporary artists, street artists and muralists.
Keer has colored walls and floors around the world with his street art and has been creating works from his studios in The Netherlands and Italy for more than 25 years. During his career, Keer has presented his art to the public through street-art performances where he shares the joy of painting. A message seems to be present in his work, such as environmental concerns and the livability of this world. Leon Keer is constantly aware of the playfulness and beauty versus the degradation around him, a contrast that he expresses and amplifies in his work and which he uses as a metaphor for life. In addition to using optical illusion, he often presents his art by adding new technologies, such as augmented reality and video mapping. The anamorphic pieces created on walls and floors are shared via social media worldwide. His art has been showcased throughout Europe, Russia, Mexico, the UAE, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
SEEING THINGS will be on display at the Annex Gallery through July and will be available for viewing with the purchase of admission to Wynwood Walls onsite or at www.thewynwoodwalls.com.
