Miami Guide Take
The h.wood Group’s Tokyo-inspired hideaway is the rare South Beach cocktail bar that actually earns the hype — a 12-seat room where certified Japanese Ice Master Kevin Lee hand-carves diamond ice for the Hakushu 12 Old Fashioned and shaves kakigori for the Guava Kakigori. Come for the drinks, stay for Eddie Mac’s vinyl-only soundtrack and the Lion Crunch Roll.
Bar Shishi is an intimate, Tokyo-inspired cocktail destination from The h.wood Group (the team behind Delilah, The Nice Guy and Bootsy Bellows), hidden on the third floor of RIVANI at 1691 Michigan Avenue in Miami Beach, steps from Lincoln Road. A 12-seat bar anchors the nearly 2,000-square-foot space, marked by a signature guardian lion at the entrance.
Senior bar manager and certified Japanese Ice Master Kevin Lee leads the cocktail program — hand-carved diamond ice, kakigori-style shaved ice, Japanese cobbler shaking — with signature drinks like the Guava Kakigori (rum, guava, yuzu, shiso over shaved ice) and the Hakushu 12 Old Fashioned over hand-carved ice. Japanese-inspired small plates include Hamachi Crudo, the Lion Crunch Roll, Chicken Karaage, Wagyu Katsu, and Caviar Service.
Eddie McDonald (Eddie Mac, musical director for Anderson .Paak’s DJ Pee .Wee) curated 100+ vinyl records spanning deep house, funk, soul, disco and Latin. 108 private spirits lockers are available for annual members.
