After a brief September hiatus to refresh its space, Smorgasburg Miami, the city’s largest open-air food market, is back and better than ever! The grand reopening will take place this weekend on Saturday, September 28th, and Sunday, September 29th as Smorgasburg Miami kicks off its new season with a lineup of new and returning vendors, site improvements and exciting events including the Best Empanada Competition.

Known for its diverse culinary offerings and its role as an incubator for up-and-coming food entrepreneurs, the beloved market returns with 12 new vendors who bring an eclectic mix of global flavors to the market, offering a platform for these chefs to launch and grow their businesses without the overhead of a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Newcomers include:

  • Chan Bai Mei – unique Chinese street food specializing in tanghulu, a sweet and sour hawthorn treat

  • El Ammar – Mediterranean vendor offering Lebanese shawarma and falafel

  • Focaccina – Italian vendor offering handcrafted Sardinian focaccia

  • Helado Taiyaki – which fuses Latin and Japanese flavors with its soft-serve ice cream in a fish-shaped waffle cone

  • If & When Eats – Caribbean-inspired rice bowls, tostone cups, empanadas, and quesadillas with meats like jerk chicken and oxtail

  • Ivy & The Poet – New York-style desserts made with non-GMO, organic, gluten-free, and vegan ingredients, paired with custom poems

  • Pepe’s Hey Babe – Texas-style BBQ sandwiches and bowls with a New York twist

  • Professor Snacks – Global snacks and candy featuring unique flavors from brands like Lays, Kit Kat, and Skittles.

  • Tacomiendo – Mexican concept offering burritos

  • The 4th Sister – authentic Guatemalan cuisine offering dishes like Pepian, Chiles Rellenos, tacos and carne asada

  • The Crepes & Waffle Bar – freshly made savory and sweet crepes and waffles

  • Yummy Dumplings – traditional Chinese dumplings and skewers

In addition to the newcomers, Smorgasburg will also see the return of 20 crowd favorite vendors like The Lazy Oyster, Miami’s first raw bar; Kabuki Soba, known for its yakitori and noodles; La Birrieria Tijuana, specializing in Tijuana-inspired birria tacos; Tio Paella, offering traditional Spanish paellas and bites; and Santo Dulce, delighting guests with their signature halo-shaped churros in eclectic flavors.

“We’re thrilled to reopen with a fresh lineup of vendors and new improvements that make the market even more enjoyable,” said Gaston Becherano, owner of Smorgasburg Miami. “The break gave us the chance to focus on elevating the overall experience for our visitors. But most importantly, we’re excited to welcome new culinary talent that represents the rich diversity of Miami’s food culture.”

Along with the expanded vendor lineup, Smorgasburg Miami has made several upgrades to enhance the visitor experience. Guests can look forward to more shaded areas with new sails, updated picnic tables and fresh landscaping that includes additional trees and new mulch, making the market even more comfortable for guests looking to spend the day enjoying Miami’s most creative culinary offerings.

To celebrate the grand reopening weekend, on September 28 & 29, Smorgasburg will host live entertainment, including DJs, traditional Latin dancers, a salsa class and a flower arrangement workshop. One of the weekend’s highlights will be the Best Empanada Competition, where local vendors will compete to showcase the tastiest empanadas, with a live tasting and judging panel.

Offering a vibrant, family-friendly space for the community to enjoy food, culture, and entertainment, entry to Smorgasburg Miami is free and open to the public.

Smorgasburg Miami is located at 2600 NW 2nd Avenue in the heart of Wynwood. The market will continue to operate every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm until 8pm. For additional information, follow Smorgasburg Miami on Instagram @smorgasburgmiami or visit www.smorgasburgmiami.com.
