What happens when science meets nightlife in the heart of downtown Miami? You get nightLAB: Beyond the Algorithm—a grown-up evening of exploration, creativity, and futuristic fun at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science (Frost Science).
On Thursday, July 17, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Frost Science is flipping the switch for an after-hours adventure that dives into the weird, wild world of artificial intelligence. Designed for guests 21 and up, this edition of nightLAB turns the museum into your playground, complete with hands-on experiences, live performances, smart cocktails, and mind-expanding science.
The night’s centerpiece is AI: More Than Human, Frost Science’s blockbuster summer exhibition. Developed by the City of London’s Barbican Centre, it’s a global exploration of AI’s evolution through science, history, and culture. You’ll encounter everything from a robot puppy that learns from your interactions to interactive installations and digital artworks that explore how machines interpret language, identity, and emotion.
Then it’s time to head into the Frost Planetarium, where award-winning Miami-based artist duo MyFi Studio will take over the dome with Look Over Here, a trippy experience created just for this one-night event. Think analog glitch art meets AI-generated visuals, all projected in 360 degrees using vintage equipment, coded dreams, and more wires than you thought possible. It’s equal parts immersive, technical wizardry and Miami-style magic.
You’ll also get to geek out with hands-on experiments, data-driven art, and STEM zones led by community partners from Miami Dade College, Florida International University, FilmGate Miami, Thirst for Science and the Miami AI Club. Fuel up at the bar with themed cocktails (hello, AI-rita), grab a bite, and strike up a conversation with a fellow future-thinker—or just vibe out under the stars with a drink in hand and curiosity in full gear.
