The historic and iconic Rusty Pelican Waterfront Restaurant turns 50 this month and announces plans to celebrate its legacy with a speciality throwback menu honoring its original dishes found on the menu in 1972. Famous for its sparkling views of the Miami skyline, impressive contemporary American cuisine and fresh locally sourced seafood, the acclaimed restaurant prides itself on offering guests a memorable modern and chic dining experience, while maintaining the same character it had when it first opened its doors 50 years ago.

One of Miami’s most picturesque locations, the Rusty Pelican strikes the perfect chord between sophistication and glamorous nightlife. Known for its top-notch service, handcrafted cocktails developed by master mixologists and delectable dishes made with high-quality ingredients, the Rusty Pelican creates unforgettable experiences. An epicenter for the City, its 50th anniversary highlights the restaurant’s impact on the local community. To celebrate its long history, the Rusty Pelican will introduce a throwback menu for a limited time from August 15th to August 19th, honoring dishes found on its first menu. The throwback menu will include a couple signature entrees like the fresh Teriyaki Glazed Sirloin and Chicken Kona Kai priced at $19.72, the same year of the restaurant’s inception. Guests can also enjoy classics such as Conch Fritters served with grilled pineapple relish, a Baked Alaska for dessert and refreshing cocktails including Mojitos and Mai Tai’s for only $5. On August 16th from 4:30 – 6:00 PM, the Throwback Mojito will be available for $0.50, honoring one of the restaurant’s most popular cocktails. Following a long standing partnership with the Overtown Youth Center, 100% of the proceeds made from the throwback menu will go towards supporting the center and supporting its mission to create a safe haven for children. Rusty Pelican and the Tallichet family have been a dedicated partner to the Overtown Youth Center over the years and as they grow they want to continue giving back to the organization to support the children in our community.

As a family owned business for the past 50 years, we are excited to have the legacy of the Rusty Pelican continue to impact the local community for years to come,” says CEO of Specialty Restaurants John Tallichet. “This achievement not only signifies our restaurant, but also our entire Rusty Pelican family’s hard work and dedication.”

Since opening its doors in 1972, the Rusty Pelican has maintained an excellent relationship with its team members, as the majority of the team has been employed at the restaurant for over 10 years. To mark the occasion, on August 26th an award and employee recognition lunchtime ceremony for Rusty Pelican employees will take place, acting as a celebratory mark for the team’s achievements and accomplishments.

Since its inception in 1972, the Rusty Pelican has innovated the traditional contemporary American cuisine with flavors inspired by Caribbean and latin culture,” says Eastern Regional Chef, Jim Pastor. “We are excited to bring back some of our iconic dishes found on our original menu that pay homage to our history, showing how far we have come and where our menu is going in the future.”
