The SCOPE Art Show, renowned as a premier showcase for contemporary art, concluded its 2024 edition with resounding success, marking the event’s first iteration under the visionary leadership of Hayley River Smith. With elevated curatorial standards and dynamic programming, the show set a new benchmark for global art fairs.
“The outstanding community response and strong sales throughout the week reflect the success of our elevated and highly selective curatorial approach this year. The exceptional works from our exhibitors represented the next wave of exploration in contemporary art from a truly global perspective, which was echoed in programs and activations onsite throughout the week,” said Hayley River Smith, Director of SCOPE Art Show. “We look forward to continuing to evolve the dynamic curatorial and collaborative approach to the show next year.”
Global Representation and Strong Sales
Welcoming 42 new galleries this year, SCOPE Art Show featured 97 international exhibitors from 20 countries, including galleries from Cincinnati, Ohio; Tokyo, Japan; Oslo, Norway; and Bogotá, Colombia. Throughout the week, exhibitors reported enthusiastic engagement from visitors, record-breaking sales, and significant acquisitions by museums.
Craig Mark of The Melrose Gallery (Johannesburg, South Africa) noted the strong reception for their presentation of works by Dr. Esther Mahlangu, the globally acclaimed artist whose career spans over seven decades. “We had an overwhelmingly positive response to our presentation … and it was a pleasure introducing her work to new audiences,” said Mark.
