Art Week Miami 2022 kicks off this month (November 29 – December 5) in Miami Beach, Wynwood as well as with a number of satellite fairs throughout the city. Here is an updated list of public facing as well as private, invite-only events and happenings that you can peruse.

Miami Art Week is an intriguing melting pot of art and culture where visitors, locals and international art enthusiasts meet to preview the upcoming hot collections as well discover trends in fashion, music and film. This event is characterized by a public art schedule filled with a myriad of concerts, performances and workshops alongside private parties being held at venues ranging from art galleries to historical mansions to hotels and clubs.

Untitled Art

Untitled Art is the leading independent art fair taking place annually on the sands of Miami Beach. Guided by a mission to support the wider art ecosystem, Untitled Art offers an inclusive platform for discovering contemporary art and prioritizes collaboration in each aspect of the fair. Untitled Art 2022 will take place during Miami Art Week from Tuesday November 29 through Saturday December 3, with a VIP Preview on Monday November 28. The fair coincides with Art Basel Miami Beach, held from Thursday December 1 to Saturday December 3.

 

Wynwood Walls

Wynwood Walls, the famed epicenter of the Wynwood Arts District known worldwide for its groundbreaking, ever-changing collection of curated art, will debut 10 new installations for Miami Art Week with a celebratory dinner hosted by CEO of Goldman Properties Jessica Goldman Srebnick. LOUIS VUITTON’S ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH EXHIBIT

Louis Vuitton will exhibit selected works by a curated ensemble of the world’s most-renowned artists as part of Art Basel Miami Beach, held at the Convention Center in Miami Beach from November 29 – December 3. Standout artist collaborations on display in the Louis Vuitton lounge include two wax figures of Yayoi Kusama, created by the artist herself; a panda figure sculpture by Takashi Murakami on a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk; paintings by Richard Prince and Alex Katz; a photo by Jean Larivière, and the now iconic Artycapucines collection. As a celebration of the Maison’s relationship with Yayoi Kusama – and to mark the 10-year anniversary of the first collaboration – exclusive new pieces will be showcased for the first time as a teaser of the upcoming collaboration.

Aerobanquets RMX mixed-reality art and culinary experience: Monday, November 28-Friday, December 4

Superblue Miami and BMW i have partnered to present the immersive art installation Pulse Topology by Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer this November and throughout Miami Art Week 2022.  Composed of 3,000 lightbulbs suspended at different heights, “Pulse Topology” creates a series of crests and valleys in an intimate landscape that visitors are invited to traverse at Superblue. Each lightbulb glimmers to the pulse of a previous participant.

 

Alma Salgada Showcase at W Miami (Invite only)

W Miami is hosting a special preview of their latest art exhibition featuring Alma Salgada on Monday, Nov. 28 at the trendy Brickell hotel’s signature restaurant ADDiKT, located on the 15th floor rooftop. Curated by Bia Duarte, the installations will feature vibrant colors and graffiti-like designs inspired by the Brazilian artists’ passions for florals, gardens and street art. Additionally, the artist’s showcase will be available for the public to view at W Miami throughout the entire week.

Saatchi Yates Heads to Miami with Solo Exhibition by Ethiopian Artist, Tesfaye Urgessa

Saatchi Yates is delighted to present a powerful solo show of new paintings by contemporary Ethiopian artist Tesfaye Urgessa, opening on 22 November at the gallery’s temporary space in the heart of Miami’s Design District. Ethiopian iconography is at the core of Urgessa’s artistic production having emigrated to Germany from Addis Ababa. Recognised for his unique intertwined subject matter that recalls representations of race and the politics of identity, Urgessa’s new body of work will see him dive deeper into this subject with 15 new large-scale paintings marking some of his largest works to date. The show will coincide with the artists’ presentation at the Rubell Museum, Miami opening on November 28 2022. MONAD Studio at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach

The prestigious MONAD Studio, cofounded by local artists Eric Goldemberg and Veronica Zalcberg, will design and 3D print unique sonic sculptures to be displayed in the glamorous lobby at the iconic Morris Lapidus-designed Ritz-Carlton, South Beach during Miami Art Week 2022 for all to admire. With the help of the knowledgeable South Florida-based luthier Scott F. Hall, these sonic sculptures will be bright, grandiose, playable instruments that will be used during a private concert in partnership with the Miami Symphony Orchestra on the evening of Tuesday, November 29th. The instruments will include astounding renditions of a piano, a lap guitar and xenophone, a twin serpent, a zhu, a bichord, a slide guitar, and a segmented bass guitar. The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach’s Art For Good “Concert of the Seven Decades”

As a continuation of their Art For Good program, which uses the universal language of art to address local, regional, and global causes, The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach will be hosting a concert in partnership with the Miami Symphony Orchestra celebrating the past seven decades of iconic Miami history, arts, and culture on Tuesday, November 29.

As an ode to The Magic City and its prominent global presence, conductor Eduardo Marturet will specially curate a soundtrack of songs central to Miami’s identity for the orchestra to perform in front of an influential crowd of local, regional, and national notables, tastemakers, politicians, art collectors, and artists alike. As part of the musical performance, Eric Goldemberg and Veronica Zalcberg of MONAD Studio and Scott F. Hall, Luthier will be designing and constructing 3D printed, artistic instruments – sonic sculptures – that will be played by orchestra members during the concert (Images of all instruments linked here).

SUMA at Gitano

SUMA is an invitation to discover a new set of values between art, design, people and nature. SUMA Gallery based in Tulum curates with intention taking into account the social and environmental impact of each piece. For Art Week 2022 SUMA has partnered with Gitano and will be featuring work from prominent Mexican artists including Christian Abusaid, Pedro Friedeberg, Eliana Portilla and Rafael Uriegas throughout the Gitano spaces.

Art Miami + CONTEXT Art Miami Opening Night

Utilizing a custom virtual avatar of Mock crafted within HUMXN’s metaverse software, Griffin created an iconic entirely digitally produced shoot showcasing Evan Mock in the latest Louis Vuitton menswear, alongside quintessential Miami architecture and curated Polaroid headshots fabricated via Artificial Intelligence (AI). In addition to the festivities for this year’s most innovative cover, Ocean Drive’s ‘Art Of The Party’ brings an exciting mix of celebrities, artists, curators, and philanthropists all under one roof to celebrate yet another year of the diverse expressions of art that help frame Miami’s culture.

 

MADDOX GALLERY

For the fifth year in a row, Maddox Gallery, one of the UK’s most successful new contemporary art galleries, will return to Art Miami operating booth AM220. This year, Maddox will feature works from artists including David Yarrow, who will be onsite throughout the Fair. Other hero pieces the gallery will showcase include a notable sculpture by KAWS, original works by Banksy, a set of four original Warhol works, and pieces by George Condo, The Connor Brothers, Kusama, Robert Nava, and Javier Callehja. Last year, Maddox Gallery famously sold a $4 million Bansky on opening day during the VIP preview of Art Miami.

 

 

1 Hotel South Beach Eternal Heart x Iridescent Atmosphere

Diners at Beach Club will enjoy an immersive experience filled with art, entertainment, and live beats. Multimedia artwork from artist Artem Mirolevich’s Eternal Heart will be on display, which explores the inner cosmos of human beings, as biological machines made to serve a higher purpose of elevating mind over body. While you dine, body painted ballerinas will emerge from his artwork for a live whimsical performance. Guests will also be able to view Iridescent Atmospheres, a series of abstract images taken around the Yucatan Peninsula by photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya through a meditative Virtual Reality experience. The images place the viewer into Ruvan’s gaze into the skies, through the plants, and over the sea. The work aims to give participants a personal journey to create space between thoughts in a timeless setting. While guests experience the images as an animated journey, a tranquil soundtrack created by Gabriel Andruzzi from The Rapture will play in the background. Hours: 6:30pm – 9:30pm. Fabel Miami, a new open-air rooftop restaurant and lounge by owner Matthew Rosenberg and his award-winning architecture firm, M-Rad, will host a legendary VIP grand opening party on Thursday, December 1st. Alma Salgada Showcase at W Miami

W Miami will showcase their latest art exhibition featuring Alma Salgada at the trendy Brickell hotel’s signature restaurant ADDiKT, located on the 15th floor rooftop. Curated by Bia Duarte, the installations will feature vibrant colors and graffiti-like designs inspired by the Brazilian artists’ passions for florals, gardens and street art. Additionally, the artist’s showcase will be available for the public to view at W Miami throughout the entire week.

 

ATOMIK Mural and Hand-Painted Uniform Collab with Lucy Glaser at LPM Restaurant & Bar

In celebration of Art Basel week, LPM Restaurant & Bar has partnered with renowned Miami street artist, ATOMIK, who will complete a massive, one-of-a-kind mural painting along the exterior wall of LPM Miami. Famous for his iconic orange character, the art installation will combine ATOMIK’s unmistakable street-style with influences from LPM’s stylish design and French Mediterranean cuisine. Additionally, the large-scale, outdoor mural will be available for the public to view at LPM throughout the entire week and beyond.
