During Art Basel 2021, Kimpton Angler’s (660 Washington Avenue) will be offering a variety of experiences for guests and locals to enjoy art in the making with artist meet and greets, exhibition pop-ups, interactive live-art experiences, and a special menu that celebrates the Art of Food.

Kimpton Angler’s art-full experiences are part of the hotel’s year-round Art in Residence program which seeks to make art appreciation an everyday experience by connecting guests and locals to the worlds of art, food, fashion, music, and culture through approachable and intimate experiences that stir the soul.

Thursday, Dec. 2, 6:00-9:00pm, Sangria + Ceramics, Kimpton Angler’s Rooftop Sun Deck – Kimpton Angler’s brings back this popular workshop for the second year in a row. Led by local ceramic artist Sarah Glass, participants will mold, shape, and paint their own piece of pottery. Price: $95/person includes materials, tools, instruction, sangria, and bites. Friday, Dec. 3, 3:00-5:00pm, Live Art with Marco Gallotta, Minnow Bar – Art lovers and afficionados are invited to be a permanent part of the latest work by New York City-based, mixed-media and paper-cutting artist Marco Gallotta. While Gallotta is at work on a new piece for his Sea series currently on display at Kimpton Angler’s, art lovers are invited to watch and add a note about preserving our oceans to a nearby posterboard which will added to the final piece. Complimentary wine, beer and bites served.

 

Friday, Dec. 3, 5:00-6:00pm, Wine Hour with Agnes Nagy, Seawell Fish N’ Oyster – Meet Hungarian sculptor Agnes Nagy, featured guest at Kimpton Angler’s daily wine hour. Nagy’s “Soul Mates” exhibition of animal sculptures includes a satellite exhibit of the piece, Spiny Lobster on display at Seawell Fish N’ Oyster.

 

Saturday, Dec. 4, 7:00-10:00pm, Murals + Music, Kimpton Angler’s Rooftop Pool Deck – Israeli artist and muralist Pilpeled returns. As a follow-up to the “Mermaid Rising” mural he created during Art Basel 2019, Pilpeled will create a second mural on the hotel’s rooftop pool deck as part of growing series of outdoor art on display throughout the hotel. Guests can watch Pilpeled at work and celebrate the completed mural during a rooftop cocktail event with a featured performance by rapper, Shah.

Art of Food, Seawell Fish N’ OysterFor a dining experience that is as pleasing to the eyes as to the palate, Seawell Fish N’ Oyster’s Chef Craig Tooker’s Art of Food menu ($55++/person) includes an inspired three-course menu that celebrates art’s Impressionism, Surrealism and Abstract movements with dishes such as: Taleggio Cheese Brulee, Osetra Caviar and Lobster Cannelloni.
