Coconut Grove has a new waterfront Italian. La Sponda opened September 19 at Vita at Grove Isle (4 Grove Isle Drive), the elegant new restaurant from Gioia Hospitality Group — the father-daughter team of Thomas and Kassidy Angelo behind Daniel’s Miami.
Chef Danny Ganem’s menu runs on handmade pasta, crudo, antipasti, and live-fire seafood, with a wine list built on Barolo, Barbaresco, Tuscan reds, and Etna wines. The room overlooks Biscayne Bay — dinner with a water view, done right.
Dinner is served Wednesday through Sunday, with lunch and brunch planned for November.
