Join the buzz! Bugs, a cinematic, immersive exhibition that makes the world under your feet larger-than-life, opens on Saturday, November 23 at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami.
Highlighting the biology and evolution of bugs, and how their abilities inspire advances in engineering and nanotechnology, Bugs explores the science of these amazing tiny animals.
The interactive exhibition boasts ultra-detailed, larger-than-life models, videos, hands-on activities, scientific specimens, and immersive experiences that enable guests to see the world from a bug’s perspective, delight in their bizarre beauty, and reflect on what we can learn from their brilliant behaviors. Dig deeper as you explore Frost Science’s own collection of insects in a special display created in collaboration with Broward College students.
Whether you are being ambushed by an orchid mantis, protecting your hive from an invader, or examining the detailed physics of dragonfly flight, Bugs will transport you into a hidden world where reality is truly stranger than fiction.
The exhibition was created by the internationally renowned Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and Weta Workshop, whose outside-the-box creative designs helped bring the “Lord of the Rings” films to life on the silver screen.
Bugs will be on view through Sunday, April 20, 2025, inside the Hsiao Family Special Exhibition Gallery on the first floor of the museum. Admission to Bugs is included with all museum admission tickets.
Frost Science is open daily. Plan your visit at frostscience.org
