Hutong Miami has announced The Red Lantern Series, a limited-time dinner menu running now through August 28, 2026. The series takes its name from the Red Lantern, crispy soft-shell crab with Sichuan fried chili, the founding signature dish that has defined Hutong with its introduction in 2006. Six dishes in total, the menu was built explicitly for those who seek bold heat, drawing from the fiery cooking traditions of Northern China that Hutong has been rooted in since opening in Hong Kong in 2003.
Inspired by the alleyways, street culture, and bold regional flavors of Northern China, Hutong was born in Hong Kong in 2003 and went on to become among the first Chinese restaurants in the city to earn a Michelin star. Operating under Aqua Restaurant Group, the brand now spans five cities including Hong Kong, London, New York, Dubai, and Miami, each rooted in the same Northern Chinese culinary tradition. The Red Lantern Series is not a reinvention. It is a reminder of what Hutong has always been.
At the center of the menu is the Red Lantern itself, crispy soft-shell crab ($72) tossed with Sichuan fried chili, overflowing with the intoxicating heat and aroma that have made the dish synonymous with Hutong. It is the kind of dish that stops a dining room, the kind that tends to reappear on tables before the first order is even finished.
The remaining dishes are equally uncompromising. Crispy Lobster with Sichuan Fried Chili ($94) brings wok-fired intensity to one of the sea’s most prized ingredients. Lau Fau Shan Oysters in Sichuan Chili Pepper Broth ($58) balance brine and spice in equal measure. Steamed Seabass with Sichuan Red and Green Peppercorn ($58) is precise and aromatic, floral and delicate. Flaming Wagyu Beef Char Siu ($62) takes A5 ribeye and lacquers it with pineapple and kumquat, six pieces where smoke meets sweetness. The Hutong-style Steamed Eggplant with Chili Sauce ($26) rounds out the menu as its most restrained dish, silky, smoky, and quietly confident.
Each course arrives in Hutong’s signature lantern baskets, a hallmark of the brand’s presentation carried across all of its global locations.
The Red Lantern Series is available exclusively at dinner. Hutong Miami is open Sunday through Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
