The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science (Frost Science) is proud to announce its inaugural Family FUNraiser, a unique event that combines exclusive hands-on STEM fun, museum exploration, and community impact. Taking place on Saturday, August 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the event will directly support the museum’s robust education programs, along with its ongoing community engagement and accessibility initiatives. 

The museum is also partnering with Lotus House Women’s Shelter, a vital Miami non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of women, youth, and children experiencing homelessness, to make an even greater impact. For every ticket purchased, a STEM-filled backpack will be donated to a child served by Lotus House, just in time for the new school year. Each backpack will be packed with hands-on educational materials designed to spark curiosity and build confidence in science learning, and will be gifted alongside complimentary museum admission for families to enjoy an inspiring day of discovery at Frost Science.

“The Family FUNraiser is more than a day of hands-on discovery; it’s a powerful opportunity to support our community and inspire the next generation of curious minds,” said Stefanie Epstein, Vice President of Advancement at Frost Science. “We’re proud to partner with organizations like Lotus House to ensure science is accessible, engaging, and empowering for all.”

Throughout the event, families will enjoy a full museum of hands-on STEM fun—from launching rockets and coding with mini-computers to digging for fossils, making ice cream, and catching live science shows—designed to spark curiosity and creativity for all ages.

We truly believe in the power of play, helping to foster positive developmental and social skills, and are excited to be working together, in shared mission, to bring this to our sheltered children,” said Beatrice Gonzalez, Director of Lotus House. 

The event is organized by the Family FUNraiser host committee, featuring dynamic leaders and changemakers including Tanvi Vattikuti Abbhi, Devon Aoki Bailey, Liz Conway Belpassi, Caroline LeFrak, Melissa Saiontz Luse, Oana Reedy, Hayley Smith, and Caroline Whitton. Tickets are $99 for adults (12+) and youth (4–11), while children under four are free. A four‑ticket bundle is available for $350, granting full museum access and participation in all Family FUNraiser activities.
