The 7th annual Miami 4 Social Change Youth Film Festival will be presented by URGENT, Inc. in partnership with the City of North Miami Beach on July 21-22, 2022, at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater from 9:00am-3:00pm each day.
Attendees can expect a dynamic 2-days of stand-out youth films, workshops, a pitch competition, master classes, keynote sessions, award presentation, and red carpet photos with celebrity guests. Along with a robust schedule of 70 short films- documentaries, music videos, animation and live action – for the general audience screened over the two days, youth creatives present their work, network with peers and professionals, and learn about filmmaking from industry experts, teaching artists, and peers through workshops, master classes, and panel discussions. Filmmakers also compete for top honors and are highlighted during the awards ceremony.
Headlining this year’s festival are Sergio Delavicci and Fab 5 Freddy. Sergio Delavicci is an actor, known for his roles in The Fix, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, The Post, and Creed 2. Sergio notes, “The future of storytelling in film is in the hands of our next generation. It’s imperative that we equip them with the knowledge and wisdom to masterfully craft stories that impact the world. By being part of the Miami 4 Social Change Youth Film Festival, it provides the opportunity to pave the way for emerging content creators.”
Fab 5 Freddy, is an American visual artist, filmmaker, hip hop pioneer, the original host of Yo! MTV Raps and director of Grass is Greener now airing on Netflix. Fab shares “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to hopefully inspire the next generation of visionary creatives in media and entertainment at this year’s conference.”
Created in 2016, URGENT, Inc.’s Miami 4 Social Change Youth Film Festival (M4SC), a youth film festival that has an international reach, celebrates and fosters the creativity of filmmakers 24 years old and younger from here in Miami and from around the world. According to URGENT’s CEO Dr. Saliha Nelson, the Festival was created as a way to elevate the talents and skills of young filmmakers who see using art and cinema to create positive change in the world. “M4SC encourages the talent of young filmmakers and elevates diverse youth voices who are using film to shine a light on issues that they care about,” she said. “Providing authentic experiences for our summer interns and apprentices to engage in professional public spaces with the creative community and industry professionals from across the county is an essential component of our work. This opportunity amplifies our commitment to elevating youth voice, creating a grander stage to make youth talent visible outside of their local communities.”
The ticketed event is open to the public, and is age appropriate for those 11+.
