From vibrant streets to the sun-drenched Hard Rock Stadium, the Magic City will cast its spell over the globe in just 100 days by kicking off the new club football extravaganza. The groundbreaking 32-team FIFA Club World Cup™ will feature an unmissable opening match as Inter Miami FC, led by the magician himself, Lionel Messi, take on African giants Al Ahly FC. On Saturday, June 14, Miami will set the tone for the summer fiesta of football – or soccer – that will bring the skill, color and passion of clubs from 20 countries to 11 US cities.
“I mean, how big is that? A standalone Saturday evening showstopper, in the Magic City, will light the fuse on a month-long celebration of the world’s best club football. Featuring 32 clubs and 63 matches in 12 top-notch stadiums, the FIFA Club World Cup 25 will redefine – completely redefine – how, when and where the true club world champion is crowned,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a video interview available for media to download for editorial purposes.
“Unlike the FIFA World Cup in [20]26, where players from 48 nations will be on show, the FIFA Club World Cup is open to players from every nation on earth. As a matter of fact, players of 82 different nationalities could take part in the tournament. So, 82 countries worldwide will follow the FIFA Club World Cup. This is the start of something truly special, of something historic, and there is actually no better place for the dream of the world’s best soccer clubs and the world’s best soccer players to come alive than in the United States of America.”
As Miami will transform into a global football epicenter where cultures collide and legends are made, the whole world will watch – and benefit from – this groundbreaking tournament. At Wednesday’s FIFA Council meeting in Zurich, Switzerland, it was confirmed that there will be a USD 1 billion FIFA Club World Cup distribution pot for participating clubs and a target of an additional minimum of USD 250 million as solidarity to non-participating clubs across the world.
“You don’t have to come from a traditionally dominant soccer nation to represent your country, or make your mark on the global stage and, actually, maybe even becoming world champions. So, together with the solidarity pot for non-participating clubs, the participation of so many players, from so many nations, all this is helping to make football truly global, and to unite the world,” added FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
