On May 8, 2025, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science (Frost Science) celebrates eight years in the heart of Downtown Miami—and at the center of it all is one of the city’s most captivating gems: the Aquarium.
From coastal mangroves to the deep blue sea, the Aquarium showcases the ecosystems that make South Florida one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Spanning three levels, it’s an immersive journey brought to life through dynamic design, engaging storytelling, and incredible marine life.
Whether you’re a science enthusiast, an ocean lover, or a family planning your next outing, the Aquarium is a must-visit. Even better? Admission is included with Frost Science’s all-in-one Explorer Ticket—so for one price, you can explore the Aquarium, catch a show in the Frost Planetarium, and dive into interactive exhibitions across the museum.
Dive into the Aquarium Levels
Each level of the Aquarium reveals a new perspective. Start at the Vista level, where the Florida Bay exhibit invites you to get hands-on with stingrays, and the Everglades exhibit showcases species like alligators, turtles, and other native creatures from Florida’s wetlands. Stroll through the Mary M. and Sash A. Spencer Aviary, where wading birds like roseate spoonbills forage in a lush, open-air environment. You’ll also find the Sandy Shores exhibit, which explores life along Florida’s dynamic coastlines, and Mangrove Forests, where juvenile fish and other coastal creatures thrive.
Head to the Dive level to explore the heart of ReeFLorida, the National Coral Reef Conservancy at Frost Science–an initiative dedicated to the conservation and restoration of Florida’s Coral Reef. Guests can explore exhibits featuring Florida reef species, learn about the challenges Florida’s Coral Reef faces and discover the partnerships working to restore it. Then, descend to the Deep level where glowing jellyfish and deep-sea creatures drift in mysterious, shadowy waters.
The Deep is also home to the iconic Gulf Stream Aquarium. This 500,000-gallon marvel is home to sharks, stingrays, a rehabilitated loggerhead turtle, and other species that swirl and glide through a 31-foot-wide Oculus lens—one of the most photogenic and mesmerizing features in all of Miami. Standing beneath it feels like looking up into the ocean itself.
Whether you’re a curious kid, a science-loving adult, or just in it for the views, the Aquarium at Frost Science offers an unforgettable escape into Florida’s wild waters—without ever leaving the city.
And right now is the perfect time to visit. Through May 23, Frost Science is participating in Miami Attraction & Museum Months, in partnership with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. You can get $5 off the Explorer Ticket, which includes full access to the Aquarium, a Frost Planetarium show and all exhibitions.
